Workplace Cardiovascular Disease Checks Pilot – Local Authority Grant Scheme

Grant funding is now available for upper tier local authorities in England as part of a pilot aiming to deliver up to 150,000 cardiovascular disease checks in workplaces by the end of March 2025.

Upper tier local authorities are invited to apply for funding using the application form available to download from this page.

Completed application forms should be sent to nhshealthcheck@dhsc.gov.uk using the subject line ‘Workplace CVD Checks Grant Scheme – Application – <LA name>’. (Please insert the name of your local authority in place of <LA name>.)

The closing date for submission of applications was 23:59 on 12 April 2024.

The checks delivered through this pilot will spot the early signs of heart disease and provide people with the information they need to reduce their risk of having a heart attack, stroke or developing diabetes.

The pilot will gather evidence on the feasibility and impact of workplace cardiovascular disease checks. It will encourage employers to support people to stay well in work, by gathering and sharing learning on delivering health checks in the workplace.

A total fund of £6.67 million is available for this grant scheme and local authorities can bid for grants ranging from £15,000 to £200,000.

The grant specification – available for download from this page – provides further information on eligibility, selection criteria, pilot objectives, grant requirements and allocations following a competed application process.
